BRATTLEBORO — Following a monthlong narcotics investigation, Vermont State Police executed a search warrant early Friday morning, leading to the arrest of two individuals on outstanding warrants.
The operation commenced just after 6 a.m. on Dec. 8, involving multiple units including the Vermont State Police Narcotics Investigation Unit, Tactical Services Unit, Crisis Negotiation Unit, and Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program.
A segment of Canal Street was closed to traffic as the warrant was carried out.
Kaanan H. Kain, a 33-year-old with no fixed residence, and Ashlyn Y. Gates, 32, from Manchester, Connecticut, were detained on existing state arrest warrants.
Kain was sought for two failures to appear in court on retail theft charges, whereas Gates was wanted for not appearing to answer to charges of simple assault and unlawful mischief.
Following their arrest, both individuals were taken to the Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division, to face a judge regarding their warrants.
