LAWRENCE — In response to a threat of possible firearm violence at Lawrence High School, all Lawrence Public Schools were placed under an exterior lockdown this morning, local authorities confirmed.
The Lawrence Police Department reported receiving a call around 10:30 a.m. from a suicide hotline.
The caller, a male, indicated a plan to engage in firearm violence at the high school located on North Parish Road and then threatened to take his own life.
Law enforcement units were immediately dispatched to the high school campus and other educational institutions throughout the city as a precautionary measure.
The police have declared this an active investigation.
No additional details have been released at this stage, and it is unclear if any suspects have been identified or apprehended.
