Following the lighting ceremony, the Derby-Newport Light up the Night Parade will commence. The parade is set to start at 84 Farrant Street, in Newport, with lineup beginning at 4 p.m. It will kick off at 5 p.m., winding through Downtown Newport and along Route 5 through Derby, concluding at the North Country Union Junior High School.

Participants in the parade are reminded that all vehicles must be street legal, and while ATVs are welcome, they cannot be used on roads before or after the parade.

Entrants are encouraged to creatively decorate their vehicles with lights, keeping in mind the 14ft height limit due to street lights and power lines. To maintain safety, there will be no throwing of candy during the parade.

This event not only lights up the night but also brings the community together in celebration of the holiday season.
