ARLINGTON — Chief Julie Flaherty reported that the Arlington Police Department is investigating a motor vehicle crash that left an 81-year-old woman injured after being struck by a car on Sunday afternoon.
At around 1:45 p.m., Arlington Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene at the intersection of Park Avenue and Wollaston Avenue, where a Toyota Corolla collided with the pedestrian as she crossed Park Avenue in a designated crosswalk.
The victim, who is from Arlington, received immediate medical attention from Arlington Fire EMS/Rescue and was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment of her injuries.
The 79-year-old driver of the Corolla, also an Arlington resident, stayed at the crash site and is actively participating in the investigation.
She reported no injuries.
Authorities closed Park Avenue for the investigation, which was completed and the avenue reopened by 4:25 p.m.
The Arlington Police Department, along with the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
