Man faces charges after speeding on I-91 in Westminster

WESTMINSTER — A New Hampshire man was arrested Sunday for allegedly driving over 100 mph on Interstate 91, authorities said.

Charles P. Putnam, 48, of Canaan, faces charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle and excessive speed after he was pulled over by the Windham County Sheriff’s Office for traveling at speeds of 101 mph in a 65 mph zone.

Sgt. Norton of the Windham County Sheriff’s Office conducted the traffic stop at 4:56 p.m. near mile marker 29.4 on I-91 southbound.

Following the arrest, Putnam was released with a citation to appear in Windham Superior Court, Criminal Division on a later date.

He was also issued a traffic ticket for the civil speeding violation.

The incident highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat dangerous driving behaviors on Vermont’s roadways.
