LONDONDERRY –– A truck driver from Conway, New Hampshire, was arrested on Sep. 26, following a heated argument that escalated into a knife incident at a loading dock on 34 Londonderry Road.
Responding to a disturbance call around 8:50 a.m., officers arrived to find that two truck drivers had engaged in a verbal altercation while backing up to the dock.
The situation escalated when one of the drivers, identified as 42-year-old James Scharnowske, allegedly exited his vehicle, hurled racially offensive remarks, physically assaulted the other driver, and brandished a knife.
The situation was diffused by another employee on the scene, who was carrying a firearm.
Scharnowske was subsequently arrested and charged with multiple offenses including Reckless Conduct with a Deadly Weapon, two counts of Simple Assault, Aggravated DUI with a vehicle weight exceeding 10,000 pounds, Driving While Intoxicated, and Criminal Threatening with a Deadly Weapon.
Assisted by a trooper from the New Hampshire State Police’s Truck Enforcement Unit, Londonderry Police Department officers held Scharnowske on Preventative Detention.
He was transported to the Rockingham County House of Corrections, where he is to be held until his arraignment the following day.
