CONCORD –– A commercial truck accident disrupted morning traffic on Interstate 93 south near exit 17E for two hours on September 26, 2023, according to the New Hampshire State Police.
The incident occurred around 4:45 a.m. when the driver, Jesus Cepeda-Pizarro, 35, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, lost control of his box truck, causing it to veer off the roadway to the left. The truck overturned on its side, damaging a guardrail and partially blocking the left lane.
Trooper Brandon Rivard, who conducted the initial investigation, stated that Cepeda-Pizarro was traveling in the right-hand lane when the incident occurred.
Cepeda-Pizarro was evaluated at the scene by the Penacook Rescue Squad for minor injuries and subsequently transported to a local hospital.
He was cited for Operating after Suspension and Negligent Driving.
The interstate was reduced to one lane while the truck was removed, causing significant traffic delays.
Sergeant Scott Atherton of the New Hampshire State Police Troop G Commercial Motor Carrier Unit, Penacook Rescue Squad, Canterbury Fire Department, New Hampshire Department of Transportation District 5 and Matt Brown’s Towing provided assistance at the scene.
