NEWFIELDS –– A fire alarm activation at a commercial structure on 171 Exeter road spurred a swift response from local fire departments early this morning.
At 1:27 a.m., the Newfields Fire Department received the dispatch and, while units were en route, were informed of a confirmed structure fire.
Automatic aid was dispatched from Newmarket Fire & Rescue and Exeter Fire Department, demonstrating a combined effort to tackle the blaze.
Upon arrival, the first units found heavy smoke and flames visible from the rear of the building. Initiating an attack, the Newfields crew made entry and carried out a quick knockdown of the fire.
The Exeter crew provided interior resources, and the Newmarket crew were assigned to the roof, working together to prevent further spread of the fire and ensuring the safety of the surrounding area.
The Newfields Police Department was also called in for assistance, supporting the fire crews in their response.
