HAMPTON FALLS — A convicted felon was apprehended Friday, July 28, 2023, after a road rage incident on Route 101 East in Epping where shots were allegedly fired at another vehicle.
At 4:33 p.m., police esponded to a report of an altercation involving a silver Subaru WRX and a Chevrolet Silverado.
A witness claimed the Subaru driver fired three rounds from a firearm at the Silverado.
The vehicles were spotted exiting at Exit 7, heading north on Route 125.
Epping Police officers intercepted the Subaru at McKinnon’s Auto Station on Route 125 North.
The driver was identified as 48-year-old Edward J. Braxton of Lee.
During the investigation, the witness’s account matched the seized Subaru and its driver.
An intact bullet was found in the driver side door pocket of the Subaru.
Braxton confessed to the road rage incident on Route 101 East and admitted he was prohibited from owning a firearm due to his felony conviction.
Braxton did not consent to a vehicle search, leading officers to seize the car pending a search warrant.
The warrant was later granted, and a firearm was discovered in the vehicle.
Braxton was arrested and is currently held at the Rockingham County Jail.
He awaits arraignment in Rockingham Superior Court for Felon in Possession of a Dangerous Weapon and Felony Reckless Conduct.
Additional charges may follow.
Officers from the Epping Police Department and Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
The investigation into all aspects of the incident is ongoing.
