CRAFTSBURY — A single-vehicle accident happened during the rainy afternoon hours in Craftsbury yesterday, the Vermont State Police reported. The driver, fortunately, escaped without injuries.

The incident happened on Vermont Route 14 near the Black River Rd intersection at about 4:51 p.m. on Tuesday. Heather Allen, 39, of Newport City, was operating a 2019 Subaru Forester when her vehicle hydroplaned and veered off the wet road.

Officials said that Allen, who was wearing her seatbelt, managed to avoid injuries from the rollover. The passenger side of her Subaru Forester was damaged in the incident, but no other vehicles were involved.

After an investigation by Vermont State Police, it was determined that the wet road conditions due to rain likely caused the vehicle to hydroplane, leading to the rollover.

Wrights Towing arrived on the scene to recover Allen’s vehicle

Hydroplaning can occur even at lower speeds on wet roads, and drivers are reminded to drive according to road conditions.
