COLCHESTER — A man was shot early this morning in an apartment in the Winchester Place complex, according to local police.
Colchester Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call around 6:07 a.m., indicating a man had been shot in an apartment located on Jefferson Drive.
Officers arriving at the scene found a 34-year-old man with at least one gunshot wound.
The victim was transported by St. Michael’s College Rescue to UVM Medical Center, with his current condition unknown.
The assailant had reportedly fled the scene before police arrived.
Officers and evidence technicians remain on scene processing the area for further details.
Police say initial information indicates the incident was targeted, suggesting there’s no increased danger to the public as a result of the shooting.
