BENNINGTON — A dirt-bike accident on West Mountain claimed the life of a Bennington man on Tuesday evening, according to Vermont State Police.
The incident took place around 7:04 p.m. on an ATV trail system off the Quarry Road area in Shaftsbury.
Other riders who were present at the scene discovered the operator, identified as 28-year-old Ty Kipp of Bennington, unresponsive and began performing CPR.
Upon arrival, Shaftsbury Fire and Bennington Rescue teams administered lifesaving measures, which unfortunately proved unsuccessful.
Kipp was declared deceased at the scene.
Investigation into the incident determined that Kipp collided with a chain hung across a camp road entrance while riding his dirt-bike.
This resulted in significant injuries to Kipp’s upper torso and neck area.
The crash remains under investigation.
