JAFFREY — New Hampshire Fish and Game was notified of an injured hiker on the White Cross Trail at Monadnock State Park on June 19.
The hiker, identified as Jennifer Gritter, 44, of Newton, MA, reportedly suffered an injury after falling while hiking with friends and family.
Monadnock Park Staff and Conservation Officers responded to the scene just below the junction of the White Cross Trail and Smith Connecting Trail.
After receiving medical attention, Gritter was placed in a litter and transported down to the trailhead at the Monadnock State Park Headquarters.
The operation involved several passersby who aided in the rescue.
Rescuers arrived at the trailhead around 5:20 p.m. and were met by a waiting ambulance from Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance Service.
However, Gritter refused ambulance transportation and was subsequently transported from the State Park in a personal vehicle.
The rescue operation included the assistance of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources Mountain Patrol Rangers, as well as personnel from the Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance Service.
