CHARLOTTE — A Milton man was cited for excessive speed after he was clocked traveling almost double the posted speed limit on US Route 7, Vermont State Police said.
Isaac Whitfield, 25, was observed by troopers traveling north at 93 mph in a 50 mph zone near the intersection of Ferry Road in Charlotte on the evening of June 18.
The red GMC Sierra truck Whitfield was driving was stopped without incident.
After confirming the speed via radar and identifying the driver, troopers issued Whitfield a citation for excessive speed.
He is due to appear in the Chittenden County Superior Court at a later date to respond to the charges.
Authorities are reminding drivers to obey speed limits to ensure safety on the roads, noting that excessive speed is one of the leading causes of accidents in the state.
