Woman in custody after shooting in Rochester

ROCHESTER — A 50-year-old woman is in critical condition after suffering a gunshot wound to the head at the Professional Arts Building on 40 Winter Street.

Haydee Rivera-Nadeau, 65, of Somersworth, N.H., has been arrested on charges of first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and attempted second-degree murder.

According to the Rochester Police Department, paramedics from Frisbie Memorial Hospital stabilized the victim on the scene before she was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for trauma care.

Rivera-Nadeau was identified as a suspect early in the investigation, and police obtained arrest warrants for her.

On May 3, Rochester Police Detectives contacted the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department to request their assistance in following up on a lead that Rivera-Nadeau might be in the area.

They were able to locate Rivera-Nadeau and take her into custody without incident.

She is currently being held at the Mecklenburg County Jail until her arraignment.

The investigation remains active, with assistance from the Strafford County Attorney’s Office and the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office.
