Tomato Varieties* (All $5 each)

*Sold two 4-6″ plants to a pot

  • Roma: The Roma Tomato is a plum tomato popularly used both for canning and producing tomato paste because of its slender and firm nature.
  • Moskovich: One of the most appealing extra early tomatoes. Fruits are early, deep red and cold tolerant. Rich flavor. Smooth and globe-shaped. 4-6 ounce with a small stem scar.
  • Pear: Pear tomato or teardrop tomato is an indeterminate heirloom tomato. There are yellow, orange and red varieties of this tomato; the one being sold is red. They are generally sweet and in the shape of a pear but smaller.
  • Matt’s Wild Cherry: Plants bear loads of intensely sweet, tart and flavorful 1⁄2 inch deep red cherry tomatoes. Plants are vigorous, disease-resistant and sprawling.
  • Prudens Purple: One-pound fruits with excellent sweet, balanced classic tomato flavor. A great choice for new gardeners looking for a dependable heirloom beefsteak tomato.
  • Rose de Berne: Beautiful rose-pink Swiss heirloom with big flavor and crack resistance. Medium sized fruits with soft yet durable skin that have an even balance of acidity and sweetness that is perfect for a sandwich or in a quick tomato sauce. Earlier to ripen than other larger varieties and a consistent producer well into the season.
  • Traditional Cherry: The cherry tomato is a type of small round tomato believed to be an intermediate genetic admixture between wild currant-type tomatoes and domesticated garden tomatoes.
  • Tomatillo: Tomatillos, sometimes called husk tomatoes, look like green unripe tomatoes with a dry, leafy husk that wraps around the outside. The color of the fruit is a beautiful bright green which fades a bit once you cook them. Tomatillos have a slightly more acidic, slightly less sweet flavor than ripe and unripe tomatoes. Overall, the flavor is more vegetal and bright and the interior texture is denser and less watery. Great for salsa verde.
