MIDDLEBURY — A 35-year-old man from New York was arrested for DUI following an incident in Middlebury yesterday.
Authorities were notified of a man in a convenience store on U.S. Route 7 in New Haven, slurring his speech and unable to walk properly, at around 11:00 p.m.
Police say the man left the store and drove south on U.S. Route 7.
The vehicle was located on Vermont Route 30 in Middlebury.
Police initiated a traffic stop after observing a motor vehicle violation, and the driver was identified as Francis Schaub, of Astoria, NY.
While speaking with Schaub, police say they detected signs of impairment.
He was screened and placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.
He was transported to the New Haven barracks for processing and later released with a citation to appear in court at a later date.
Troopers were assisted on the scene by members of the Middlebury Police Department.
