Counterfeit money circulating through Derby

DERBY — Authorities are warning local businesses about counterfeit money being circulated in the area.

Police received a call on Sunday from the manager of McDonald’s in Derby, stating a female had attempted to pass a fraudulent $20 bill at the restaurant.

Around 30 minutes later they received a call from the manager of Price Chopper reporting that a person passed a fraudulent bill at the store.

State police are warning other businesses of these incidents and asking locals to keep an eye out for any other fraudulent bills attempting to be passed off in the area.

Anyone with information regarding the incident at McDonald’s or Price Chopper is being asked to call Cpl. Amy LeClair at 802-334-8881.
