CHARLESTON — A 56-year-old man from Brighton was arrested on multiple charges following a two-vehicle crash in Charleston yesterday.
Police say Kevin Guckin is facing charges of DUI#2, leaving the scene of an accident, and negligent operation.
The incident took place on Vermont Route 105 at around 9:45 p.m. when police were alerted that a truck involved in a crash had left the scene without stopping, and was on fire.
Witnesses told police the truck almost hit several other vehicles after driving off.
State police met with Joseph Trudeau, 72, of Charleston, at the scene.
Trudeau’s vehicle had been sideswiped by the truck, causing damage to both doors, smashing the glass of the driver’s side door, and causing both front airbags to deploy.
While investigating, police say they began receiving phone calls that the truck was parked at a residence in Brighton, and the man that exited appeared to be intoxicated.
They responded to the home where the truck was parked and Guckin was located.
According to the report, the truck was parked in the driveway and completely missing the front driver’s side tire and rim.
He was transported to the VSP-Derby barracks where he was processed for DUI #2 and released on a citation to appear in court to answer to charges.
