Catamount Arts, Burke Mountain team up to try new live concert model

NEWPORT — Catamount Arts and Burke Mountain Resort have teamed up to pilot a new live concert model this fall.

Vermont’s first-ever “Vertical Concert,” inspired by a similar live music model in Ukraine, will situate Catamount’s mobile hydraulic stage where it can be viewed by patrons in Burke Mountain Resort’s balcony rooms.

Patrons can reserve rooms for the night, order dinner and drinks from The View Pub, and watch the show live from the semi-privacy of their own balconies.

Socially-distant patio seating will also be available for concertgoers who prefer not to get rooms.

If the pilot is successful, Vertical Concerts may well be a routine part of concert programming in the future.

Vermont’s very first Vertical Concert will feature Burlington-based soul singer Kat Wright, with special opening guest Brett Hughes, on October 17, at Burke Mountain Resort.

Only 39 balcony room reservations are available, and patio seating is also limited.

Wright has been described as Bonnie Raitt meets Amy Winehouse.

Burlington music veteran Brett Hughes, who will open for Wright, is known for his plaintive guitar playing and wry, high lonesome vocals.

Concert guests are required to adhere to CDC and State of Vermont safety guidelines when attending this event.
