DERBY — A former Vermont State Police trooper from Derby who was convicted of sexual exploitation of a minor back in 2012, was ordered held without bail after appearing in court this week.
On Monday, Mark Beezup, 63, of Derby, pleaded not guilty to a charge of first degree aggravated domestic assault with a weapon and providing false information to law enforcement.
The complaint was made on Saturday, August 29, when the victim told police that she had received verbal threats of physical violence by Beezup in recent days.
The victim told police she had a handgun pointed at her head by the former trooper while being threatened.
Police took Beezup into custody the same day without incident and conducted a search for weapons at his home as part of a temporary restraining order that required all firearms to be turned over to police.
Police say they found several firearms, including a handgun that is being kept as evidence in the case.
Beezup was not allowed to possess the firearms under conditions of probation and parole.
He was lodged at the Northern State Correctional Facility in Newport, held without bail as ordered by the court.
