Irasburg prepares to smile for the camera

IRASBURG — After the last fire engine rounds the Irasburg Common in the traditional Church Fair parade on Saturday, July 21, Irasburg residents will gather on the town’s baseball diamond to have their picture taken.

A drone-mounted camera will click the shutter for the town’s group portrait.

The Irasburg Planning Commission, in cooperation with the Irasburg United Church, is organizing the event, with the hope of including as many residents as possible.

“We wanted to illustrate the Irasburg Town Plan with pictures of people,” said Planning Commission Chair Michael Sanville. “But we couldn’t decide which people to include, so we decided to include everyone.”

The Church Fair parade traditionally begins at 7 p.m. and lasts about 30 minutes.

The photos shoot will start immediately after the parade.

“If non-resident friends of Irasburg want to join us for the photo, they’re welcome,” Sanville added.

The Vermont Dairy Promotion Council will provide free maple ice cream following the photo shoot.

Members of the Irasburg Selectboard, the Planning Commission, the Town Hall Committee and assorted volunteers will be scooping ice cream cones as long as supplies last.

Copies of the Irasburg town portrait will be available at the Town Clerk’s office.
