NEWPORT — A 32-year-old Newport woman was sentenced this week for a felony charge of sale/delivery of heroin.

Michelle Churchill was sentenced to serve 16 months to 4 years in jail.

Police say in April of 2017, Churchill sold 10 bags of heroin to a confidential informant in exchange for $130.

In 2016, Churchill was convicted of possession of heroin and possession of regulated drugs.

In 2009, in New Hampshire, she was convicted of possession with intent to distribute a controlled drug.

“I would like to commend the continued hard work and dedication of the Vermont Drug Task Force,” State’s Attorney Jennifer Barrett said. “The State of Vermont continues to be in a state of crisis due to the opiate epidemic and we will continue to do our part to address this issue within the community.”

  1. I’m in disbelieve… there was another charge with the same crime in August of 2017. That person has a warrant out for her arrest and yet I have see her out shopping in the Derby Walmart…?? Are we truly convicting the ones at fault?? I feel for the families who are trying to deal with the king drug dealers in Newport.. who are untouchable!!!!
