SCHENECTADY — A 19-year-old Schenectady man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting on Van Vranken Avenue.
Cecil A. Toland faces charges of second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon following the death of Wilfredo Vasquez Jr., according to the Schenectady Police Department.
Police responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 3:24 p.m. Wednesday near 1807 Van Vranken Avenue.
Vasquez was transported to Ellis Hospital where he died a short time later.
Toland was taken into custody following an investigation into the April 23 homicide.
The murder charge is classified as an A felony, while the weapons charge is a C felony.
