ANSONIA — Multiple reports of a street takeover and fireworks at the intersection of Wakelee Avenue and Franklin Street led to a confrontation between police and participants early Saturday morning.
The Ansonia Police Department responded to calls about the incident at approximately 12:25 a.m. on April 26.
The first officer arriving at the scene encountered between 50 and 100 people in the street with several dozen cars, some driving erratically.

The group dispersed once additional officers arrived, with participants entering Route 8 in both northbound and southbound directions.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
Police have begun identifying suspects as part of their ongoing investigation.
Authorities are aware of a video circulating on social media showing portions of the incident but are requesting the public not share or repost it.
