RUSHVILLE — A John Deere tractor was destroyed in a fire Thursday afternoon in a field off South Main Street in the Town of Potter, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the scene at 12:26 p.m. along with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Middlesex Fire Department and Rushville Fire Department.
Fire crews successfully extinguished the blaze before it could spread to another nearby tractor.
An investigation determined the fire was caused by electrical wiring in the tractor’s dashboard.
The tractor, owned by 68-year-old Keith Clark of Rushville, was declared a total loss.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
