State police make multiple DWI arrests in Malta area

MALTA — State Police arrested multiple individuals for driving while intoxicated in the Malta area and surrounding communities during a five-day period in April.

On April 16 at 9:17 p.m., State Police assigned to the Northway Interstate Patrol stopped Barbara L. Montag, 50, of Ballston Lake, for violating the Move Over Vehicle and Traffic Law on I-87 in Malta.

Montag was arrested for driving while intoxicated and other violations after recording a 0.09% BAC during processing at SP Saratoga.

Investigators discovered Montag had a previous DWI conviction within the past ten years.

She was issued tickets returnable to Malta Town Court on May 8 and released to a sober third party.

The following night, April 17 at 10:06 p.m., State Police of Saratoga stopped Pierce D. Jasmin, 19, of Mechanicville, on State Route 9 in Malta for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation.

Jasmin was arrested for driving while intoxicated after recording a 0.21% BAC during processing.

He was issued tickets returnable to Malta Town Court on May 8 and released to a sober third party.

On April 19 at 6:37 p.m., State Police of Schodack stopped Shawn P. Curley, 49, of Castleton on Hudson, on State Route 9 in Schodack.

During his arrest for driving while intoxicated, Curley was found in possession of a controlled substance and additionally charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

Curley recorded a 0.19% BAC during processing and was issued tickets returnable to Schodack Town Court on May 14.

On April 20 at 7:31 p.m., State Police of Brunswick responded to a one-car crash on State Route 67 in Pittstown, where they identified the driver as Paul R. Qua, 60, of Johnsonville.

Qua was arrested for driving while impaired by drugs and evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert who obtained a blood sample to determine drug content.

Investigators discovered Qua had a previous DWI conviction within the past ten years.

He was issued tickets returnable to Pittstown Town Court on May 14 and released to a sober third party.

On April 21 at 11:55 p.m., State Police assigned to the Latham Interstate Patrol responded to a one-car rollover crash on Interstate 90 in East Greenbush involving Donna N. Scott, 48, of Albany.

Two adult passengers and a child under 17 were in the vehicle and transported to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Scott was arrested for aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child (Leandra’s Law), endangering the welfare of a child, and other violations.

She refused to provide a blood alcohol sample and was initially released to hospital staff.

After her release from the hospital on April 22, Scott was processed at SP Latham, issued tickets returnable to East Greenbush Town Court on May 29, and released.
