FAIRLEE — Vermont State Police arrested a local man on assault charges nearly two weeks after an alleged attack on another Fairlee resident.
Cody Hardy, 32, was taken into custody on April 25 and charged with aggravated assault, violation of court ordered conditions of release, and criminal driving with license suspended.
The charges stem from an incident on April 13 when troopers responded to a reported assault at approximately 7:08 p.m.
According to police, Hardy allegedly assaulted Donald Kawalec Jr., 48, before fleeing the scene.
Troopers were unable to locate Hardy during their initial response or in the surrounding area that evening.
After a 12-day search, authorities located Hardy and issued him a citation to appear in Orange County Superior Court – Criminal Division on April 30 at 8:30 a.m.
