BRIDGEPORT — A 32-year-old man was arrested Thursday after allegedly attacking another person with a knife and fleeing into an occupied home, according to police.

Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Park Avenue at 11:30 a.m. following reports of people blocking a store entrance.

As police arrived, several individuals began walking away from the business.

Officers observed two people walking in the opposite direction, one of whom was later identified as Deonnedre Jones.

Jones allegedly ignored officers’ commands to stop and suddenly pulled out a concealed knife, attacking the person walking beside him.

The victim sustained a serious facial laceration in the assault.

Jones then fled on foot, leading officers through several backyards before entering an occupied residence on Laurel Court.

Residents of the home alerted officers that Jones had entered their property.

When officers entered the home, Jones allegedly brandished another knife before being apprehended.

Both Jones and the victim were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Jones faces multiple charges including first-degree assault, home invasion, carrying a dangerous weapon, criminal trespass, interfering with an officer, and breach of peace.

His bond was set at $750,000.
