LOCKPORT — A 45-year-old Lockport man was arrested Thursday after state troopers discovered four illegal assault rifles during a traffic stop.
Michael S. Wrzos faces multiple felony charges including criminal possession of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
Troopers from SP Lockport conducted the traffic stop on Hinman Road for a tinted, nontransparent windshield at approximately 2 p.m.
During the stop, troopers observed four illegal assault rifles in plain view inside the vehicle.
The Troop A Community Stabilization Unit was called to assist with the investigation.
Authorities seized four assault weapons without serial numbers, nine high-capacity magazines, a silencer, a glass container with suspected cocaine, and a small envelope containing suspected cocaine/fentanyl.
Wrzos was charged with four counts of criminal possession of an assault weapon, nine counts of criminal possession of high-capacity magazines, criminal possession of a silencer, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, and criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree.
After processing at SP Lockport, Wrzos was transported to Lockport Police Department and held for centralized arraignment.
