Canandaigua man arrested after breaking into Penn Yan home

PENN YAN — A Canandaigua man was arrested following a domestic incident where he allegedly broke into a victim’s home and prevented them from calling for help.

Ryan Crane, 40, was taken into custody after police responded to a domestic complaint in the village on April 9.

According to Penn Yan police, Crane unlawfully entered the victim’s dwelling by climbing through a window and then subjected them to unwanted physical contact.

During the altercation, Crane allegedly broke the victim’s cell phone when they attempted to contact 911.

New York State Police later located Crane in Canandaigua and turned him over to Penn Yan police.

Crane was charged with burglary in the second degree, unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, two counts of criminal mischief in the fourth degree, and harassment in the second degree.

He was transported to the Yates County Jail to await centralized arraignment for the purpose of obtaining an order of protection.
