WORCESTER — Officers from the Worcester Police Department’s Neighborhood Response Team arrested a 29-year-old man on drug distribution charges during an early morning patrol Friday.

At about 5:45 a.m., officers patrolling Main Street observed a large group gathered around a property marked with a “No Trespassing” sign.

When officers approached, they determined the individuals had no valid reason to be on the property.

Calvin Perez of Oread Street allegedly disregarded officers’ commands to show his hands and was found carrying a knife.

During the detention, officers discovered individually wrapped bags of suspected fentanyl and crack cocaine in Perez’s possession.

Perez was arrested and charged with possession of a Class A substance with intent to distribute (second or subsequent offense), possession of a Class B substance with intent to distribute (second or subsequent offense), and trespass.

The arrest occurred during a routine patrol that began at 4 a.m. on April 25.
