OTEGO — A 24-year-old Otego woman was arrested Friday on multiple felony charges related to child sexual abuse material, according to the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office.
Amber L. Renwick faces three counts of promotion of a sexual performance by a child, a class D felony, and two counts of possession of a sexual performance by a child, a class E felony.
She was also charged with sexual misconduct, a class A misdemeanor.
The arrest followed an investigation into a cyber tip received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Investigators received information in February from the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce regarding child sexual abuse material being shared from a Kik social media account.
The investigation revealed Renwick allegedly possessed and distributed child sexual abuse material to other Kik users.
On April 25 at 10 a.m., Sheriff’s Office investigators and members of the New York State Police Computer Crimes Unit in Troop C executed a search warrant at Renwick’s residence.
Renwick was taken into custody and transported to the Sheriff’s Office for processing before being lodged in the Otsego County Correctional Facility to await centralized arraignment.
The Otsego County District Attorney’s Office was consulted on the charges.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
