Smoke reported at business on State Highway 30 in Perth

PERTH — The Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company and Perth Volunteer Fire Company responded to reports of a possible structure fire at a business on State Highway 30 in the Town of Perth at 11:54 p.m. Thursday.

The call reported that the store was filling with smoke and flames were possibly visible on the roof of the building.
The building was evacuated as a precaution.

Police and Lake Valley EMS were also dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, a Perth Incident Commander reported “nothing showing” and the incident was believed to be caused by an air conditioning unit malfunction.

National Grid was requested to respond to the scene.

The Fulton County Emergency Management Office also responded to the incident.

Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company provided a tanker and engine, and were placed on standby at the Perth fire station.

The Hagaman Volunteer Fire Department was on standby for Perth during the incident.
