PENN YAN — A Rushville woman was arrested after allegedly stealing merchandise from a village establishment, according to Penn Yan Police.
Michelle M. Lohnes, 54, was charged with petit larceny following an investigation that began March 31.
Police said an unknown female entered a village establishment and stole several items of merchandise.
On April 17 at the same establishment, an employee recognized a customer as the theft suspect and contacted authorities.
Officers arrived and identified Lohnes, who matched the description of the suspect from video surveillance footage.
During a police interview, Lohnes admitted to stealing from the store, officials said.
She was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
