CAMBRIDGE — Vermont State Police confiscated 18 firearms from a residence on Dan Reynolds Road after executing a court-ordered search warrant Wednesday morning.
Michael Edwards, 44, and Helana Martin, 36, both of Cambridge, were cited on charges of illegal firearm possession and negligent firearms storage.
The search warrant was issued by the Lamoille County Superior Court following a state police investigation into illegal firearm possession by the pair.
Troopers discovered multiple handguns, rifles, and shotguns during the 9:45 a.m. search.
Both Edwards and Martin are prohibited from possessing firearms due to prior felony convictions in Vermont, according to police.
Authorities also noted the firearms were not properly secured and were easily accessible to juveniles living in the home.
Game wardens, a South Burlington Police Department officer, and Cambridge Rescue assisted state police during the operation.
Edwards and Martin were issued citations to appear at the Lamoille County Superior Court Criminal Division on May 28 at 12:30 p.m.
They face charges under Title 13 VSA 4017 (Persons prohibited from possessing firearms) and Title 13 VSA 4024 (Negligent firearms storage).
