PLYMOUTH — A Plymouth man was arrested Saturday after allegedly preventing firefighters from extinguishing a fire at his home, according to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office.

Andrew M. Harris, 47, was charged with obstructing firefighting operations, reckless endangerment of property, first-degree reckless endangerment, and second-degree unlawful imprisonment.

Deputies responded to Harris’s residence in Plymouth on April 19 to assist the fire department with a house fire.

Upon arrival, deputies found Harris standing in his driveway near a fully engulfed house fire, refusing to move to the roadway to speak with officers.

When fire apparatus arrived, deputies escorted firefighters down the driveway, at which point Harris allegedly became aggressive, yelling at emergency personnel and disobeying lawful orders.

During the investigation, authorities determined Harris had allegedly committed additional crimes against his girlfriend during a domestic incident the previous night.

Harris was held for CAP court and later released on his own recognizance.
