NORWALK — A 58-year-old Norwalk man was sentenced to 22 months in federal prison for trafficking cocaine in southwestern Connecticut, officials announced Thursday.
Christopher Adams received the sentence from U.S. District Judge Michael P. Shea in Hartford, according to Marc H. Silverman, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
Adams will also serve three years of supervised release following his prison term.
Court documents revealed that Adams was identified as a bulk cocaine purchaser in a drug trafficking organization led by Rodney Canada, also known as “Supreme.”
The Drug Enforcement Administration’s Bridgeport High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force and Stamford Police Department conducted the investigation using court-authorized wiretaps and controlled narcotics purchases.
Adams was initially arrested on March 8 after authorities found approximately 80 grams of cocaine in his Norwalk hotel room.
Despite being released on bond for state charges, Adams resumed drug trafficking activities, officials said.
He was federally arrested on May 18, five days after Canada and several co-conspirators were taken into custody.
During searches conducted in Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport, and Darien, investigators seized approximately three kilograms of cocaine, nearly 400 grams of raw fentanyl, more than 500 bags of fentanyl, five firearms, a bulletproof vest, and seven vehicles.
Adams pleaded guilty on Dec. 10 to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute cocaine.
Canada has also pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing.
