North Tonawanda man charged in hit-and-run that seriously injured pedestrian

NORTH TONAWANDA — A 38-year-old North Tonawanda man has been arrested and charged with felony assault and leaving the scene of an accident after a pedestrian was struck on Payne Avenue last week.

Joshua P. Myles-Jones was arraigned in North Tonawanda City Court and remanded to the Niagara County Jail following his April 24 arrest.

The incident occurred April 17 at approximately 10 p.m. when the North Tonawanda Police Department responded to the 1200 block of Payne Avenue for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

While officers were en route, they learned the suspect vehicle had fled the scene.

Officers and members of the North Tonawanda Fire Department rendered aid to the 57-year-old male victim, who was transported to ECMC for treatment of serious injuries.

Detectives and members of the NTPD Accident Investigation Team processed the scene following the incident.

Myles-Jones faces charges of assault in the second degree, a Class D felony, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury, a Class E felony.
