Saratoga Springs man arrested for grand larceny, bail jumping

SARATOGA SPRINGS — A Ballston Spa man was arrested Tuesday for grand larceny and bail jumping after an extensive multi-agency investigation.

Chad J. Nichols, 47, was taken into custody April 22 by State Police with assistance from the Troop G Community Stabilization Unit, Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, and the Albany County District Attorney’s Office.

State Police received a bench warrant for Nichols on Feb. 13 after he failed to appear for a sentencing hearing in Albany County Supreme Court following a March 28, 2024, arrest and subsequent prosecution.

On Feb. 17, troopers received a complaint from a Saratoga County resident reporting a theft.

Investigators determined that in October 2024, Nichols received more than $3,000 in payment for a vehicle but never provided the vehicle to the victim or returned the money.

The Wilton Town Court issued an arrest warrant for Nichols on Feb. 25.

Nichols was processed at SP Wilton on charges of grand larceny in the third degree and bail jumping in the second degree.

He was arraigned at the Wilton Town Court on the grand larceny charge and remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility without bail.

Nichols is expected to be arraigned on the bench warrant and bail jumping charge at the Albany County Supreme Court on April 24 at approximately 9:30 a.m.
