SALEM — Jay Blodget, 30, of Salem was arrested Wednesday night and charged with two counts of murder following the discovery of two deceased males in a wooded area adjacent to the Walmart at 450 Highland Avenue.

Blodget was arraigned Thursday morning in Salem District Court where James Gubitose, Chief Trial Prosecutor, represented the commonwealth.

Prosecutors stated that on Wednesday afternoon, a man walking his dog discovered what appeared to be a human body.

Police were called to the scene and found the bodies of two deceased males at the location.

Detectives from the Salem Police and the Massachusetts State Police Unit assigned to the Essex District Attorney’s Office conducted an investigation that led them to Blodget.

Judge Randy Chapman presided over the arraignment and ordered Blodget held without bail.

A Probable Cause Hearing was scheduled for May 28.

The defendant was represented by Attorney Michael Phelan.
