SHELDON — Vermont State Police are investigating a vandalism incident at Sheldon Elementary School where a swastika was found carved into an exterior metal door.
Troopers received a report of the vandalism on April 2 at 12:22 p.m. and responded to the school located at 78 Poor Farm Rd.
The incident is believed to have occurred on March 22 around 11 a.m., according to police.
Authorities have classified the case as unlawful mischief and are treating it as a possible hate crime.
The Vermont State Police will inform the Attorney General’s Office about the incident under the Bias Incident Reporting System.
No suspects have been identified yet, and the investigation remains active.
