DELHI — A 25-year-old Oneonta man has been arrested on multiple felony charges following a fatal car crash that occurred last year in the Town of Harpersfield, Delaware County Sheriff Craig S. DuMond announced today.
Isaiah M. Caballero was charged with vehicular manslaughter and weapons and drug possession after the May 14, 2024, accident that killed one person.
Investigators said Caballero lost control of the vehicle, causing it to exit the roadway, roll over and strike a tree.
During the investigation, deputies and members of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team found cocaine and a loaded, fully functional Glock-style pistol without a serial number.
Caballero, who is currently incarcerated at NYSDOC Ulster Correctional Facility on unrelated charges, was arrested Tuesday, April 22.
He was charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a Class B felony; criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a Class C felony; criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a Class D felony; and vehicular manslaughter in the second degree.
Following arraignment in the Town of Delhi Court by Justice Mathew Burkert, Caballero was remanded back to the Ulster Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 secured bond.
Also on Tuesday, deputies arrested Alexis Lotterman, 21, of Walton, who was allegedly a passenger in the vehicle.
Lotterman was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a Class B felony; criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a Class C felony; and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a Class D felony.
After arraignment in CAP Court by Justice Matthew Burkert, Lotterman was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 secured bond.
