NORTH HAVEN — Police arrested a 51-year-old New Haven man Wednesday on theft and drug charges after responding to a reported shoplifting incident at Target.

Officers were dispatched to the store at approximately 4 p.m. April 23 and were given a description of a suspect who was heading toward Buffalo Wild Wings.

The first responding officer spotted an individual matching the description entering the restaurant.

The suspect, later identified as Anthony Tarantino, was observed attempting to exit through a back door of Buffalo Wild Wings when police entered the establishment.

Tarantino was detained while officers conducted their investigation.

Following the investigation, Tarantino was issued a trespass warning from Target and arrested for sixth-degree larceny.

During a search after his arrest, officers discovered small amounts of drugs and drug paraphernalia in Tarantino’s possession.

Additional charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia were filed against him.
