NEWPORT –– This week North Country Hospital honored volunteers during National Volunteer Week, and we really celebrate them every day, as they work with such dedication throughout North Country Hospital.
This week Director of Volunteers, Merrilyn Barry, presented each volunteer with their cumulative hours of service at a luncheon provided by the NCH Food & Nutrition department. Senior team staff joined the celebration
“You are an integral part of our hospital, and we appreciate you, not only during your week, but every day,” Tracey Paul, Chief Operating Officer, said. “And the customer service skills you bring with you are second to none.”
Volunteers work in the hospital gift shop, the surgical waiting room, the IT department, Health Information Management, and other areas as needed.
Deborah Smith contributed 2,024 hours, Carole Dowd 1,565 hours, Anna Forbes 233 hours, and Joanne Guyette-Worth 50 hours.
Pamela Wilkins logged 30 hours, Esther Bowman 2,594, Helen Fontaine 2,490, Jo Ann Morse 449, Laurie Cain 4,000, Linda Quarmby 763, and Rosemary Hall 2,724 hours.
Melvidene Fortin recorded an impressive 9,187 hours, Gail Robitaille 3,359, Timothy Willis 504, Laura Bouchard 463, Debra Bate 46, Connie Johnson 1,187, and Lynda Hendrickson 276 hours.
A few volunteers were not able to attend, including Lois Bailey, who added 325 hours, and Lydie Duchemin, who contributed 123 hours of service.
