Jeffersonville man accused of violating court-ordered curfew

JEFFERSONVILLE — A 43-year-old Jeffersonville resident was arrested Wednesday after allegedly violating a court-ordered 24-hour curfew related to an attempted murder case.

Tovi Mesick, also known as Christopher Mesick, was taken into custody after Vermont State Police executed a search warrant at his home on Main Street while investigating a retail theft at Aubuchon Hardware.

During the search, troopers discovered dozens of knives and other edged weapons including swords and axes, which violated Mesick’s release conditions from a previous attempted second-degree murder charge.

The attempted murder charge stems from the February 2023 shooting of a man at an apartment on Riverside Avenue in Burlington.

Mesick was arraigned in Lamoille County criminal court on a charge of violating conditions of release and subsequently released with conditions including abiding by a 24-hour curfew at his Jeffersonville residence.

Troopers cited Mesick on an additional count of violating conditions of release related to the weapons possession and ordered him to appear for arraignment at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, in Lamoille County criminal court.

The investigation into the reported theft at Aubuchon, involving approximately $20 worth of knives and blades, remains ongoing.

A new condition of release imposed Wednesday includes a ban on Mesick being at the hardware store.
