Elderly woman killed in Allston home, suspect charged with murder

BOSTON — Officers responding to a possible domestic violence call Monday evening discovered a 77-year-old woman dead in her Allston home, police said.

The victim was identified as Peggy Yousuf of Allston, according to a statement from the Boston Police Department.

Police were called to 82 Glenville Avenue at approximately 7:48 p.m. on April 21, where they found Yousuf deceased at the scene.

Officers later apprehended a suspect near 50 Quint Avenue following an attempted carjacking, police said.

The suspect, identified as Omar Riaz, 26, of Boston, has been arraigned in Brighton District Court on charges of murder, armed carjacking and resisting arrest.

The Boston Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
