PALMYRA — Two Palmyra women face misdemeanor charges after their pit bulls repeatedly ran loose in the village, chasing and biting residents, according to police.

Jezmariah Lagrand and Amy Pettey were both arrested and charged with reckless endangerment in the second degree following multiple complaints about their dogs since February 2024.

Lagrand’s pit bull, Livid, has allegedly been running at large in the area of 124 Market St., chasing people and reportedly biting at least one person.

Pettey’s pit bull, Pootie, has been reported in the same area, allegedly chasing residents and biting two people.

Police say both women failed to control their dogs despite multiple contacts from the Palmyra Animal Control Officer and local police.

Pettey had received numerous tickets for violations but failed to appear in court to address them, according to the police report.

Both women were processed at the Palmyra Police Department and released with appearance tickets.

They are scheduled to appear in Palmyra Village Court on May 20 at 5 p.m.
