UTICA — Two men were arrested Wednesday evening after police discovered loaded handguns during a stop in the Oneida Square area, according to Utica police officials.
Officers with the GIVE Unit and Crime Prevention Unit conducted the stop around 6:30 p.m. on April 23 as part of increased efforts to reduce gun violence in the neighborhood.
During a pat frisk of the first male, officers located a loaded handgun in his waistband, police said.
A second male was found with a handgun secured in a bag around his chest during a subsequent search.
Both weapons were secured and the men were transported to the Utica Police Department for processing.
Rashiem Love, 20, of Utica, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree for a high-capacity magazine, and criminal possession of a firearm.
Jisiel Hunt, 18, of Utica, faces multiple charges including criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree for a high-capacity magazine and a defaced weapon, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree due to a previous conviction, and criminal possession of a firearm.
