Woman arrested for unauthorized use of relative’s vehicle in Cato

CATO — A Skaneateles woman was arrested after allegedly taking a relative’s vehicle without permission in the Town of Cato, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.

Ginger D. Gilday, 29, was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in the third degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Deputies received a report of a motor vehicle larceny at approximately 10:46 p.m. on April 19 at a residence in Cato.

Investigators determined Gilday had taken possession of a relative’s vehicle without authorization.

The sheriff’s office was informed that the vehicle operated by Gilday was involved in a collision in Onondaga County.

Gilday was initially arrested in Onondaga County for offenses related to the collision before being released.

She was subsequently arrested by Cayuga County Sheriff’s deputies on April 20 for the unauthorized use charge.

Gilday was released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Cato Court on May 5 at 6 p.m.
